My Story

“Photography has shaped the way I look at the world; it has taught me to look beyond myself and capture the world outside.”

Photography has always been an adventure for me. I started out in 2020 waking up before the sun rose to go on walks. On these walks I started taking photos of the sunrises. In the afternoon would take photos of the sunsets. These photos I took were mainly for myself as I wanted some cool wallpapers for my iPhone. The focus of my photography for the first 4 years was just “would this shot look nice as a phone wallpaper?”

My parents would take my two brothers and I to other countries were I further developed my photography skills. By late junior year of high school I started to take photos for a collection I was making. My first solely photography trip too place in Spring 2024 where I went to McDowell County, WV. The trip was very eye opening as I saw what was once was one of the richest county in the United States to the poorest in the United States with one of the highest incarceration and drug use rates.

From my McDowell county experience I saw photography in a new light. I began using photography as a means to the preservation of history. I am able to show the beauty, and destruction of this world through the lens of my camera. These are photos which can last generations and impact many lives.

From when I first started to take photos to now I have always used my iPhone 11.
